Abstract:
An AC motor (M1), an inverter (14), and a control apparatus (30) are installed in an electric vehicle. The control apparatus (30) includes a voltage difference computing section (320), a modulation factor computing section (340), and a mode change determining section (360). The voltage difference computing section (320) computes the difference between the voltage determined by a first voltage command in executing rectangular wave voltage control and the voltage determined by a second voltage command in executing pulse width modulation control. The modulation factor computing section (340) computes the modulation factor according to the first voltage command and the voltage difference by substituting a current difference into the voltage equation of the AC motor. The mode change determining section (360) determines on the basis of the modulation factor whether or not it is necessary to change the control mode of the AC motor (M1) from the rectangular wave voltage control to the pulse width modulation control.
