Abstract:
The present invention provides a communication device and a communication method with which it is possible to optimize, across an entire network, wireless resources in a heterogeneous communication network formed from a plurality of different communication systems. A control device that uses a plurality of communication schemes for communication with a communication device, the control device characterized by comprising: a transceiver unit which uses a first communication scheme among the plurality of communication schemes to transmit a medium reservation signal indicating that radio waves in a prescribed frequency band are to be used, and then uses at least one communication scheme among the plurality of communication schemes to transmit data; and a wireless resource management unit which manages wireless resources which transmit data to the communication device, and which sets a medium reservation period indicating a period in which the radio waves are to be used. The control device is further characterized in that the medium reservation signal includes a field pertaining to the medium reservation period indicating the period in which the radio waves are to be used, and in that the medium reservation period is longer than the period in which data is transmitted to the communication device.
