Abstract:
This control device for a compression autoignition engine comprises an engine (1), a state quantity setting device (23, 24, 43, 48, 54), an ignition plug (25), a controller (ECU 10), and sensors (SW1 to SW16). In cases where an operation state of the engine is in a predetermined operation region, the ignition plug ignites a gas mixture at a predetermined timing such that the ignited gas mixture burns by flame propagation, and then an unburned gas mixture in a combustion chamber (17) burns by autoignition. By changing the ignition timing in accordance with the operation state of the engine, the controller adjusts an SI rate, which serves as an index related to a ratio of a heat quantity generated when the gas mixture burns by flame propagation with respect to the total heat quantity generated when the gas mixture inside the combustion chamber burns.
