Abstract:
To provide a novel fuel control device for a cylinder fuel injection type internal combustion engine in which it is possible to control the gas mixture in the exhaust-side region of a combustion chamber to a lean state and inhibit knocking. One or more fuel injection cycles are performed during an intake step by a fuel injection valve disposed on the side opposite an exhaust port and a gas mixture having an air-fuel ratio leaner than the theoretical air-fuel ratio is formed on the exhaust-side region of the combustion chamber. In the first half of the subsequent compression step, one or more fuel injection cycles are performed, and the fuel injection amount in the compression step is set so lower than the fuel injection amount for the intake step, and a gas mixture richer than that in the exhaust-side region of the combustion chamber is formed near a spark plug. It thereby becomes possible to control the gas mixture in the exhaust-side region of the combustion chamber to a lean state and inhibit knocking, and to increase heat efficiency and improve fuel economy.
