Title:
CONTROL DEVICE FOR ELECTRIC POWER CONVERTER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/152526
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A control device for an electric power converter is provided with an average loss calculation unit (202) which calculates an average loss of a semiconductor element in a cycle in which the temperature of a semiconductor element is estimated, and a partial temperature change estimation unit (204) which regards the semiconductor element as a thermal network comprising at least one pair of a thermal resistance and a thermal time constant, and from the loss of the semiconductor element and the pair of the thermal resistance and the thermal time constant, estimates the change of the partial temperature of the pair. The partial temperature change estimation unit (204) estimates an average temperature from the loss of the semiconductor element, the thermal resistance, and the thermal time constant, on the basis of the thermal resistance, the thermal time constant, and the pulsating frequency of the loss, extracts a pulsation envelope temperature that exceeds the maximum value of a pulsating temperature dependent on the average loss and the pulsating frequency, adds the average temperature and the pulsation envelope temperature, and estimates the temperature change of the semiconductor element.
