Abstract:
A control device of an engine which, when the accelerated state of the internal combustion engine is detected, controls the engine to retard the valve closing timing of an intake valve larger than a steady controlled target vale closing timing after an acceleration after a bottom dead center in the intake stroke immediately after that detection, and then controls it to move the valve closing timing of the intake valve to the steady controlled target valve closing timing after the acceleration. Accordingly, immediately after the acceleration, an interval in which the intake valve is opened after the bottom dead center in the suction stroke isincreased, and a part of the air sucked into a combustion chamber flows out reversely to an intake port. By the reverse flow, it can be avoided that the amount of the air sucked into the combustion chamber is rapidly increased immediately after the acceleration, and even if the opening/closing characteristics of the intake valve are switched by a variable valve gear mechanism in the acceleration, a torque shock does not occur.
