Abstract:
According to the present invention, a high-pressure fuel pump is quietly controlled by reducing noise generated by an anchor colliding with a fixed core. A control device (800) for the high-pressure fuel pump energizes a solenoid (205) in synchronization with reciprocating motion of a plunger, thereby controlling an intake valve that opens and closes an inflow port where fuel flows into a pressurizing chamber. A current flowing to the solenoid (205) is composed of a peak current that imparts momentum for initiating valve closure to the stationary intake valve, and a holding current that switches in a range lower than the maximum value of the peak current to hold the intake valve in a closed state. When the control device (800) reduces a peak current application amount of the peak current from a value sufficient to close the high-pressure fuel pump, the closing speed of the intake valve decreases to a certain application amount, and when the peak current application amount becomes less than a certain application amount, there is a saturation range of the current application amount of the peak current in which the valve closing speed of the intake valve is saturated. The control device (800) controls the current application amount of the peak current so as to fall within the saturation range.
