Abstract:
Provided is a control device that, when the operation state of an engine in a hybrid system is switched from a lean operation L to a stoichiometric operation S, temporarily switches from the lean operation L to a rich operation R before switching to the stoichiometric operation S. In a period (t2 to t4) from the time before the switch to the rich operation R until the time after the switch, an intake restriction I is executed to limit the amount of intake air into the engine. This arrangement reduces the amount of intake air compared to a case without the intake restriction I. Additionally, in a period (t2 to t3) of the execution of the intake restriction I before the switch to the rich operation R, a fuel cutoff C applied to the engine is executed.
