Abstract:
Disclosed is a control device for an internal combustion engine including a variable valve-actuating mechanism capable of changing a valve overlap period and a turbo supercharger of a variable nozzle type. The control device can generate exhaust pressure pulsations prematurely, if demanded to rise, while suppressing the deterioration of a volumetric efficiency, and can make effective use of a scavenging effect while relaxing a torque difference. If a demand (or an acceleration demand) for increasing the exhaust pressure pulsations is detected, the opening of a variable nozzle (22c) is fully closed to shorten the valve overlap period to zero, and a change valve (33) is closed. After it is decided that the exhaust pressure pulsations were raised, the variable nozzle (22c) is opened to the degree of opening for an excellent turbo efficiency. After this opening control of the variable nozzle (22c), the valve overlap period is so set, when the turbo efficiency rises, that the exhaust pressure pulsations may become valleys, and a change valve (44) is temporarily opened over several cycles.
