Abstract:
Provided is a control device for an internal combustion engine, which can reduce a load applied to a drive system of a high-pressure pump when restarting an internal combustion engine which has been automatically stopped. The control device for an internal combustion engine capable of idle stop control is provided with an idle stop condition detection unit which detects when a predetermined idle stop condition has been met and outputs instructions to automatically stop the internal combustion engine, a restart condition detection unit which detects when a predetermined restarting condition has been met during the period that the internal combustion engine is automatically stopped and outputs instructions to restart the internal combustion engine, a rail pressure detecting unit for detecting the pressure within a common rail, and a pressure control valve controlling unit which opens a pressure control valve before restarting the internal combustion engine if the pressure within the common rail is equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold value when the restart condition is met.
