Abstract:
When alcohol-blended fuel is supplied to an internal combustion engine, an intake air flow rate (Ga) is detected (step 1005), and the basic amplitude quantity (α) of an upstream-side target air-fuel ratio (abyfr) corresponding to the detected intake air flow rate (Ga) is calculated (step 1010). Subsequently, an alcohol concentration (more specifically, ethanol concentration (Cetha)) in the fuel and a cooling water temperature (THW) (or intake air temperature (THA)) are detected (step 1015), a hydrogen concentration (Ch) in mixed exhaust gas is calculated on the basis of the detected ethanol concentration (Cetha) and cooling water temperature (THW) (or intake air temperature (THA)) (step 1020), an amplitude gain (β) corresponding to the calculated hydrogen concentration (Ch) is calculated (step 1025), and finally the amplitude quantity (α×β) of the upstream-side target air-fuel ratio (abyfr) is calculated (step 1030).
