Abstract:
The object of the present invention is to increase the precision in controlling the EGR rate or EGR amount by manipulating an EGR valve in an internal combustion engine in which an exhaust passage and an intake passage are connected via the EGR valve. Therefore, this control device calculates a primary lag time constant on the basis of the difference in pressure upstream and pressure downstream of the EGR valve, the primary lag time constant being an indicator of response lag in the movement of EGR gas relative to the action of the EGR valve. This control device calculates a control target value from the primary lag time constant calculated from the difference in pressure upstream and pressure downstream of the EGR valve, and from the target value of the EGR rate or EGR amount, and actuates the EGR valve according to the control target value.
