Abstract:
According to the present invention, temperature increase of a catalyst is accelerated. A control device for an internal combustion engine capable of a lean burn operation is provided with an oxidative catalyst provided to an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, a supercharger, an in-passage injection valve for injecting fuel into an intake passage, an in-cylinder injection valve for injecting fuel into a cylinder, and a variable valve device for varying the open period of an intake valve and/or the closed period of an exhaust valve; wherein valves are caused to overlap, fuel injection from the in-passage injection valve is completed in the time period in which the intake valve is closed, and fuel injection from the in-cylinder injection valve is completed during an intake stroke, when the intake pressure of the internal combustion engine is higher than atmospheric pressure.
