Abstract:
Fuel reforming in a fuel reforming cylinder (2) is not executed and a temperature raising operation that increases the temperature of the fuel reforming cylinder (2) is executed, if the gas temperature in a fuel reforming chamber (23) at the time when a piston (22) reaches the compression top dead center in the fuel reforming cylinder (2) is presumed to not reach a minimum gas temperature at which reforming operation is permissible. For example, EGR gas is introduced to the fuel reforming chamber (23) without being cooled. In addition, fuel for increasing exhaust temperature is supplied to a combustion chamber (33) during a prescribed period from the expansion stroke to the exhaust stroke of an output cylinder (3). Fuel is combusted in the fuel reforming chamber (23).
