Abstract:
Output from a fuel reforming cylinder (2) is found on the basis of the internal cylinder pressure and rotation speed of the fuel reforming cylinder (2). Output adjustment, whereby output from an output cylinder (3) is adjusted, is performed such that the sum of the output from this fuel reforming cylinder (2) and the output from the output cylinder (3) matches the required engine output. During this output adjustment operation, the amount of fuel supplied to a combustion chamber (33) or the amount of fuel supplied to a fuel reforming chamber (23) is controlled, during stationery operation. During transient operation in which the required engine output increases, the amount of fuel supplied to the combustion chamber (33) is increased and the output of the output cylinder (3) is increased. Then, the amount of fuel supplied to the fuel reforming chamber (23) is gradually increased, the amount of fuel supplied to the combustion chamber (33) is gradually decreased, and the heat source is transitioned from fuel to reformed fuel.
