Abstract:
Provided is a control device that facilitates startup by increasing the speed of rotation of a crank shaft at the time of startup of an internal combustion engine. An internal combustion engine is constituted by comprising: cylinders each including a piston that reciprocates in cooperation with the rotation of a crank shaft, and an intake valve and an exhaust valve that open and close a combustion chamber; a starter motor that drives and rotates the crank shaft; and a valve open/close timing control mechanism that sets the timing for opening/closing the intake valve by the drive of an electric actuator. This control device controls the electric actuator such that, at the time of cranking, the open timing of the exhaust valve of one of the plurality of cylinders that is in an exhaust stroke is advanced, and the close timing of that exhaust valve is delayed.
