Abstract:
Provided is a control method for a direct-injection engine that is equipped with a spark plug and a fuel injection valve provided so as to be capable of directly injecting fuel into a cylinder, and that has a prescribed operating region in which the excess air ratio of the air-fuel mixture is set in the vicinity of 2. In a first region on a low-load side within the prescribed operating region, combustion is carried out by forming a homogenous air-fuel mixture for which the excess air ratio is a first prescribed value in the vicinity of 2, and in a second region within the prescribed operating region, where the load is higher than in the first region, combustion is carried out by forming a stratified air-fuel mixture for which the excess air ratio is a second prescribed value in the vicinity of 2.
