Abstract:
The present invention is provided with: an exhaust gas return unit capable of returning exhaust gas that has passed through a catalyst for purifying the exhaust gas to an intake passage; an ignition timing control means for setting an ignition timing retard amount capable of preventing knocking according to the NOx concentration in the exhaust gas while the exhaust gas is being returned; an NOx concentration estimation means for estimating the NOx concentration in the exhaust gas; and a purification performance degradation determination means for determining the degradation of the purification performance of the catalyst. When the purification performance degradation determination means determines that the purification performance of the catalyst has degraded to a preset state, the ignition timing control means sets the ignition timing retard amount on the basis of the NOx concentration in the exhaust gas that has not yet passed through the catalyst.
