The present invention shortens the discharge duration of an electric power storage member for storing electric power related to the operation of a motor when a vehicle is damaged during the rotation operation of an engine. When a vehicle (10) is damaged or damage to the vehicle (10) is predicted during the rotation operation of an engine (12), the engine rotation speed (Ne) is reduced by the engagement operation of a brake (B). In so doing, when the vehicle (10) is damaged, the inertia energy of the engine (12) is consumed by the engagement operation of the brake (B), and therefore, the engine rotation speed (Ne) can be reduced earlier compared to when the engine rotation speed (Ne) is reduced in the course of nature by subjecting the engine (12) to fuel cut. Consequently, electric power generation of a motor (MG) can be further suppressed, and the discharge duration of an inverter capacitor (Cinv) can be shortened when the vehicle (10) is damaged during the rotation operation of the engine (12).
