There is demand for a control device capable of suppressing torque shock from being transmitted to vehicle wheels during a transition from parallel mode to electric mode, and increasing the output torque of a rotating electric motor in accordance with reductions in the output torque of an internal combustion engine. When a determination is made to stop the operation of the internal combustion engine while positive torque, which is torque for driving the vehicle wheels in a forward direction, is being transmitted from the rotating electric motor to the vehicle wheels, rotational speed control is executed for controlling the output torque of the rotating electric motor so that the rotational speed of the rotating electric motor approaches a target rotational speed, and torque-reducing control is executed for reducing the output torque of the internal combustion engine.
