A control method for an air conditioner, comprising: when an air conditioner is in a cooling state, adjusting an air supply mode of the air conditioner on the basis of whether there is a user in the environment where an indoor unit of the air conditioner is located and the speed of a fan of the indoor unit or whether the air conditioner receives a natural wind control command, wherein the air supply mode comprises a natural wind mode; and adjusting the working frequency of a compressor of the air conditioner and the speed of the fan on the basis of a coil temperature of the indoor unit, a first preset temperature threshold, and a second preset temperature threshold, wherein the first preset temperature threshold is greater than the second preset temperature threshold. The control method for the air conditioner of the present invention enables the user to feel more comfortable natural wind, thus improving user experience, and makes the control of the entire air conditioner more accurate. The present invention also provides an air conditioner.
