The present invention relates to the technical field of air conditioners, and discloses a control method for an air conditioner. The air conditioner comprises a compressor, a four-way valve, an outdoor heat exchanger, a throttling device and an indoor heat exchanger, wherein the outdoor heat exchanger comprises a first heat exchange path, a second heat exchange path, a third heat exchange path, a first bypass pipeline and a second bypass pipeline. A first control valve is arranged on the first bypass pipeline, and a second control valve is arranged on the second bypass pipeline. The control method comprises: acquiring an operation mode of the air conditioner; and controlling on-off states of the first control valve and the second control valve according to the operation mode of the air conditioner. In this way, the heat exchange area of the outdoor heat exchanger can be adjusted, and the energy efficiency of the air conditioner is greatly improved. The embodiments of the present disclosure also provide a control apparatus for the air conditioner, and a storage medium.
