A control method and device for a banknote accumulation device. The banknote accumulation device comprises a banknote blocking element. The banknote blocking element has an initial position. When the banknote blocking element is located at the initial position, the banknote blocking element is located on a path where the banknote move along a banknote inserting direction. The control method comprises: when detecting that there are banknotes at an opening, controlling a driving element to drive the banknotes to move along the banknote inserting direction until the front ends of the banknotes abut against the banknote blocking element; continuing controlling the driving element to drive the banknotes to move along the banknote inserting direction, and controlling the banknote blocking element to move in a preset speed so that the tail ends of the banknotes are in contact with a bottom plate when the banknotes are accumulated on the bottom plate, wherein the component of the preset speed along the banknote inserting direction is less than the moving speed of the banknotes driven by the driving element.
