The disclosed control device uses PWM to control an inverter that controls the output of a motor. Said control device computes a reference frequency (fs) on the basis of the torque and rotational velocity of the motor, uses two data tables to compute a random coefficient (α), and computes a random frequency (fr) by adding the reference frequency (fs) to the product of the random coefficient (α) and a prescribed width (W1). The control device also computes control boundary lines (L1 and L2) on the basis of the rotational velocity of the motor, corrects the random frequency (fr) to fall within the range above one control boundary line (L1) and below the other control boundary line (L2), and generates a carrier signal (CR), the random frequency (fr) being the carrier frequency thereof.
