Abstract:
Provided is a control method for a hybrid vehicle that comprises: a dynamo that uses engine power to charge a battery; an electric motor that drives a drive wheel by using power of the battery; and a particulate filter that collects particulate matter contained in engine exhaust. In this control method, when a first prescribed amount or more of particulate matter accumulates in the particulate filter and the particulate filter satisfies a first temperature-increase condition, where the particulate filter is at or below a prescribed temperature, the engine is caused to drive to raise the temperature of the particulate filter. Additionally, driving of the engine is prohibited when a prescribed first condition, where the driver does not intend to drive the engine, is satisfied.
