Abstract:
Provided is a hybrid vehicle control method whereby, when set to automatic travel mode, increase in mode switching frequency is suppressed and reduction in regeneration amounts can be suppressed. The control method for hybrid vehicles switches between HEV mode and EV mode in accordance with the size of a target drive force. The control method calculates the target drive force on the basis of vehicle speed (VSP) and driver driving operation (APO) when set to manual travel mode and calculates the target drive force on the basis of target vehicle speed and actual vehicle speed when set to automatic travel mode.In addition, the control method is configured such that, when set to automatic travel mode, the amount of expansion in dead band width (Wα), relative to dead band width (Wa) when set to manual travel mode when controlling the motor generator (MG) to the power running side, is greater than the amount of expansion in dead band width (Wβ) relative to dead band width (Wb) when set to manual travel mode when controlling the motor generator (MG) to the regeneration side.
