Abstract:

The proposal, provides for a mobile radio communications network (88) within which a mobile radio communications device (90, 92) is to operate with access to a Small Data Transmission feature and including a first network device (94) arranged to receive Small Data Transmission signalling (100) initiated by the mobile radio communications device (90, 92), a second network device (96) arranged to receive signalling from the first network device (94) as part of an establishment procedure (102) for attempted Small Data Transmission communications for the mobile radio communications device (90, 92) within the network (88), the first network device (94) being further arranged to determine if Small Data Transmission should be prevented for the mobile radio communications device (90, 92) and responsive to its signalling exchange (102) with the second network device (96), and to initiate a Small Data Transmission rejection message (104) for use in the control of the mobile radio communications device (90, 92) if Small Data Transmission is to be prevented, and to a related method of network operation and network terminal/node devices.
