Abstract:
A suspension system (20) controls the amount of compressible fluid (42) within struts (28) to determine spring rate coefficients (K>S<) and dampening coefficients (B>S<) for the struts (28). the spring rate and dampmening coefficients (K>S<, B>S<) are selected to provide foraces (F) which are a sum of several components, which include a desired target static force (F>d<) for balancing various forces acting upon a vehicle chassis, comparison of the target strut force (F>d<) to the actual force (F) applied by the respective struts (28), comparison of velocity (ż>S<) of the chassis relative to a selected reference datum, and a ride height error (e>rh<). Frequency dependant filtering decreases the spring rate coefficients (K>S<) when changes in position (Z>S<) are detected at frequencies (ω) beneath a threshold level (ω>K<), and decreases the dampening coefficients (B>S<) when changes in velocity (Z>S<) are detected at frequencies (ω) above a threshold level (ω>B<).
