Abstract:
A controller (350) of a head unit (390) in a vehicle for controlling application software (so-called APPs) based on operational and environmental information (302) of the vehicle, a respective controller (350) in communication with a portable device and corresponding application software (APPs) for a smartphone are intended to reduce vehicle driver distraction by the head unit (390). A controller (350) operating inside or in combination with the head unit (390) of the vehicle may monitor operation of the vehicle, and generate alerts indicative of operation of the vehicle (such as an alert indicative that the vehicle is operating at a predetermined speed). In response to the alert, the operation of the app in the vehicle may be modified.
