Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to improve the productivity and iron yield of a converter through accurate monitoring of in-furnace conditions in real time, said converter being used for oxidative refining of molten iron contained within the converter by blowing oxidizing gas thereto from a top-blowing lance. A converter operation monitoring method according to the present invention is a monitoring method for monitoring operations of a converter 2 used for refining molten iron 5 by blowing oxidizing gas thereto from a top-blowing lance 3, wherein the emission spectrum of a furnace-mouth combustion flame 12 of the converter or the emission spectrum of a tapping-hole combustion flame observed through a tapping-hole of the converter is measured using a spectroscopic camera 6, the temporal change in emission intensity in the 580-620 nm wavelength range of the measured emission spectrum is calculated, and changes in the in-furnace conditions are estimated on the basis of the calculated temporal change in the emission intensity.
