Abstract:

A conveying direction changing device has a freely rotating shaft (41), and a first blade assembly (51), second blade assemblies (52a, 52b), and supplemental blades (101) provided on the shaft (41). The supplemental blades (101) are provided between the first blade assembly (51) and the second blade assemblies (52a, 52b). The supplemental blades (101) do not interfere with a belt (21). When paper currency (30) is conveyed, the supplemental blades (101) guide the portions of the paper currency (30) that pass between the first blade assembly (51) and the second blade assemblies (52a, 52b), these portions being guided in the conveying direction of the paper currency (30). The conveying direction of the medium (30) is thereby changed.
