Abstract:

In order to convey an article (18) between a plurality of processing devices (4), a conveying system is provided with: a path (10) for a car (12) that travels across the ceiling and which passes above the loading port (6) of the processing device; and a car (12) that travels across the ceiling and that runs along the path (10) for the car (12) that travels across the ceiling, and which is provided with a hoist (14). The conveying system is further provided with: a local path (20) that is positioned at a lower level than the path (10) for a car (12) that travels across the ceiling, and which extends at least as far as immediately below the path (10) for the car (12) that travels across the ceiling, and which faces in plan view a direction perpendicular to the path (10) for a car (12) that travels across the ceiling; a local trolley (22) that travels along the local path (20) and which is provided with a hoist (38) for raising and lowering articles (18); and buffers (26, 50, 60) that are positioned beneath the local path (20), and which can transfer articles (18) to and from the local trolley (22), and which extends at least as far as immediately below the path (10) for a car that travels across the ceiling.
