A conveyor system comprises a loading mechanism and an unloading which are connected together. The loading mechanism includes a conveyor apparatus (3) which mainly moves horizontally and carries bulk cargo on shore, an apparatus (5) which is provided at a terminal portion of the horizontal conveyor apparatus (3) so as to operate in a linked relationship therewith to carry the cargo mainly in the upward direction, an apparatus which transfers the cargo carried thereto into a shipping hopper, and a loading conveyor apparatus (G) which loads the cargo from the shipping hopper into the hold of a bulk cargo ship. The unloading mechanism includes an unloader provided with a grab bucket (113) which can move in both the vertical and horizontal directions, an apparatus (108) which operates in a linked relationship with the unloader so as to carry cargo mainly in the downward direction, a conveyor apparatus (109) which operates in a linked relationship with the apparatus (108) so as to move the cargo mainly in the horizontal direction, and an apparatus which distributes the cargo carried thereto between cargo collection places.
