Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a coolant quality management system for detecting the quality of a coolant for cooling a machining tool while a metal-machining device is operating or stopped, and a coolant quality detection unit to be used therein. [Solution] A coolant quality management system equipped at least with a temperature measurement means, a concentration measurement means and a pH value measurement means which collect coolant from near the liquid level surface inside a coolant storage tank located along a coolant supply path at each prescribed time or during each prescribed interval, and respectively measure the temperature, concentration and pH value thereof, wherein: the concentration measurement means measures concentration by converting to a concentration value on the basis of a change in the refractive index of light in the collected coolant; the pH value measurement means measures the pH value by estimating hydrogen ion concentration on the basis of a change in the conductivity of the collected coolant; and the measurements of the collected coolant by the temperature measurement means, the concentration measurement means and the pH value measurement means are performed simultaneously.
