Abstract:
The cooler comprises cooling tubes (1), arranged in a frame (8) with a gap extending therebetween, and connected to each other with sheet straps (3). In order to reduce thermal tensions without a loss of structural strength, the edge portions of each of the sheet straps (3) are welded to the adjacent tubes (1) tangentially to surfaces thereof either on their back side or alternately on their back and front sides. Each of the sheet straps (3) may also be welded tangentially to one of the adjacent tubes (1) and to the arch portion of the other tube, defined by two tangents being drawn to the arch from the place, where the former adjacent tube and the sheet strap (3) were welded. The tubes (1) and the sheet straps (3) may be provided with ribs (12, 13). Furthermore, the sheet straps (3), the ribs (12, 13) and walls of the frame (8) are provided with expansion gaps or slots (12, 11, 14). The frame (8) is filled up with a refractory material in order to protect the whole structure of the cooler.
