Abstract:
Provided is a cooling structure for a cylinder block (12) with which the cooling characteristic for a sliding surface can be improved. The cylinder block (12) has multiple cylinders (20), and pistons are inserted into these cylinders (20) from apertures. The pistons (13) slide in a reciprocating manner above a sliding surface (12b) that defines the cylinders (20). In addition, multiple grooves (31) for cooling are formed in the outer circumferential surface (12a) of the cylinder block (12). The cooling grooves (31) extend from the front end face to the partition walls (32) between two adjacent cylinders (20), and are formed by reducing the thickness of the partition walls (32) so as to reduce the thickness t between the sliding surface (12b) and the outer circumferential surface (12a).
