Title:
COOLING SYSTEM USING NATURAL CIRCULATION OF WATER BOILED AT A LOW TEMPERATURE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/148149
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The present invention adopts the principle that water may be boiled at a low temperature when under low pressure conditions so as to remove the heat generated in a cooling system (including an absorption refrigerating system)comprising a refrigerator and air conditioner, a power facility having transformers, a machine apparatus (not shown) having a refrigerant circulating path therein, a casting frame/molding frame (not shown) having a refrigerant circulating path therein, and a computing system/computing room adopting fluid-circulation cooling. The cooling system according to the present invention lowers the inner pressure of the cooling system, such that the water inside a heat exchanger is boiled at a low temperature, thereby cooling a subject using the heat resulting from evaporation. The steam, which is generated by a phase change of the water into the gaseous state, is condensed in a condenser arranged at an upper portion of the cooling system, and heat is discharged to the outside while the steam is condensed into liquid water. Finally, the water is guided downward, back into the heat exchanger of the cooling system, using gravity, such that no additional power is required for circulating the water within the cooling system. The prior art relating to circulating water inside the heat exchanger involves forcefully circulating water using a water pump. Certain circulation mechanisms using natural circulation methods using refrigerant or liquefied gas boiled at a low temperature instead of cooling water have been disclosed recently. Examples include Korea patent no. 10-0764408, "Transformer cooling apparatus using a power generation ranking cycle", Korea utility model no. 20-0435314, "Power facility cooling system using the heat resulting from the evaporation of a refrigerant", Korea patent application no. 10-2009-0021939, "Condensing system for a thermal plant using the heat resulting from the evaporation of a refrigerant", and Korea utility model no. 20-0441997, "Power facility/tunnel cooling system using the heat resulting from the evaporation of a refrigerant." However, said inventions adopt a refrigerant or a liquefied gas as the working fluid during a cooling cycle, wherein the refrigerant or liquefied gas may possibly contaminate the air or explode when leaked into air, and thus are of limited use. The present invention applies the principle that water may be boiled at a low temperature to the cooling system. When the pressure is lowered to 0.01 atm, the physical properties of water enable same to boil at a low temperature, i.e. about 5 degrees Celsius. Therefore, the evaporation temperature can be adjusted by controlling the inner pressure of the cooling system. Furthermore, the water does not contaminate the air or explode even when leaked into air, and is easily obtained from the surroundings, thereby significantly enhancing safety and usability as well as reducing energy usage.
