Provided is a copolymer for improving the heat resistance of an aromatic vinyl-vinyl cyanide resin that: improves heat resistance as a result of being added to the aromatic vinyl-vinyl cyanide resin, without impairing the excellent transparency of the aromatic vinyl-vinyl cyanide resin; and makes it possible to obtain molded products having excellent appearance. This copolymer for improving the heat resistance of the aromatic vinyl-vinyl cyanide resin: comprises 45 to 85 mass% of aromatic vinyl monomer units, 5 to 45 mass% of (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer units, and 10 to 20 mass% of unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride monomer units; and has a total light transmittance at a thickness of 2 mm, measured on the basis of ASTM D1003, of 88% or higher.
