Abstract:
A core wire holder 3 has a silicon core wire holding section 9 that is attached to an electrode 2 disposed on the bottom of a silicon production device 20 which uses the Siemens process. The core wire holder has a substantially truncated cone shape, holds in place a silicon core wire 4, and conducts electricity to the silicon core wire 4. The silicon core wire holding section 9 has formed therein a silicon core wire insertion hole 7 for holding in place the silicon core wire 4 on the upper surface of the substantially truncated cone, and has a chamfered portion 8 such that a ridge formed by the upper surface and a lateral surface of the silicon core wire holding section 9 is formed in a curved shape.
