Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to reduce the time required for corrosion testing of a coating material. A coated fiber probe 115 on a measuring surface of which a coating film has been formed using the same coating specification as a sample 116 (coated steel plate) is installed in a testing bath 11 together with the sample 116. The sample 116 and the coated fiber probe 115 are subjected repeatedly to a cycle comprising three steps, namely salt water spraying, drying, and wetting. In the drying step of this cycle, the light absorbency at a specific wavelength of the coating film formed on the coated fiber probe 115 is measured at fixed intervals, and when the measured light absorbency satisfies a prescribed condition, the drying ends. For example, the drying ends when the measured value of the light absorbency falls to or below a prescribed value, or the drying ends when an amount of change in the measured light absorbency per unit time falls to or below a prescribed value.
