Abstract:
This transformant resulting from introducing, into a host coryneform bacterium, a gene coding for an enzyme having chorismate-pyruvate lyase activity, can efficiently produce 4-hydroxybenzoic acid or a salt thereof using a saccharide or the like as the starting material. In the case that the transformant is cultured aerobically and in conditions such that the transformant does not proliferate, it is possible to produce 4-hydroxybenzoic acid or a salt thereof in a particularly efficient manner.
