Abstract:
A cosmetic composition containing an antioxidant. In addition to cosmetically acceptable carriers such as an emulsifier, a UV absorber, a thickener, a polyol, an appropriate amount of a chelating agent, a preservative, a fragrance, and deionized water, the composition comprises: 1. curcumin of 0.05-0.6% by weight of the composition; and 2. a curcumin analog of 0.05-1.0% by weight of the composition, the curcumin analog being fluorocurcumin. The curcumin and fluorocurcumin complex has excellent antioxidation effect, is able to capture harmful oxygen free radicals, and has a good synergistic effect especially in improvement of the sunscreen index of sunscreen cosmetics. The cosmetic composition has a repairing effect on dry and damaged skin after sun exposure and has a protective effect against air pollutants such as smoke, dust, free radicals, and ultraviolet rays.
