Description:
DESCRIPTION

COSMETIC MASK FOR FACE

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates to a cosmetic mask for a face which can easily and surely cover the entirety of the face for a long period of time.

BACKGROUND ART

A cosmetic mask for a face which is formed by a substrate sheet such as a non- woven fabric sheet impregnated with a cosmetic composition such as a cosmetic lotion has been used for cosmetic treatments of the skin, in particular the face. For example, WO 2013/031029 discloses a mask sheet which is used for moisturizing the skin of the face, and removing dirt from the skin. m order for the

desirable for the cosmetic mask to fit well the face for a long period of time. However, the three-dimensional shape of the face is often difficult to be well fitted by a two-dimensional cosmetic mask for a long period of time.

In particular, if the cosmetic mask is stiff, it is more difficult for the cosmetic mask to follow the three-dimensional shape of the face. Therefore, in some cases, the cosmetic mask:

cannot adhere to the face well such that non-adhered portions can be observed on the face;

cannot cover the face well such that some gaps and/or openings between the cosmetic mask and the face can be present;

cannot adhere to the face only for a short period of time (e.g., 15 to 20 minutes); and

tends to easily peel off from the face, for example, when a user of the cosmetic mask speaks.

DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION

An objective of the present invention is to provide a cosmetic mask for a face which can fit well the face for a long period of time, in particular, even if the cosmetic mask is inflexible due to stiffness, thickness or heaviness.

The above objective of the present invention can be achieved by a cosmetic mask for a face comprising:

a first sheet which has holes for eyes and can cover around the eyes; and

a second sheet which has a hole for a mouth and can cover around the mouth

wherein

the second sheet can also cover the cheeks around the wings of a nose.

The second sheet of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may not cover the back or the side of the nose. The second sheet of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may have at least two protrusions which can cover the cheeks around the wings of the nose. It is preferable that the edges of the protrusions can reach near the inner corner of the eyes. It is also preferable that the protrusions can cover the skin over the maxillary sinus. It is also preferable that the protrusions can cover the cheeks below the lower eyelids.

The first sheet of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may cover the back and/or the side of the nose. The first sheet of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may have at least two cutting lines starting from near the inner corner of each of the holes for the eyes. The cutting lines include an upper cutting line and a lower cutting line. It is preferable that the upper cutting line be longer than the lower cutting line. The curvature of the upper part of the hole for the mouth of the second sheet of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may be smaller than the curvature of the lower part of the hole for the mouth of the second sheet.

The hole for the mouth of the second sheet of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may have at least two cutting lines starting from the lower part of the hole.

Each side of the first sheet and/or the second sheet of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may have at least one tab or notch. The first sheet and/or the second sheet of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may comprise a laminated sheet. It is preferable that the laminated sheet comprises at least one substrate sheet and at least one film which can prevent or reduce the evaporation of water.

The present invention also relates to a cosmetic process comprising the steps of applying the cosmetic mask according to the present invention onto a face, wherein the first sheet is applied onto the face after the application of the second sheet onto the face.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS Fig. 1 shows a front view of an embodiment of a cosmetic mask for a face according to the present invention. Fig. 1 A and Fig. IB show first and second sheets, respectively, of this embodiment of the cosmetic mask for a face according to the present invention.

Fig. 2 shows a front view of another embodiment of a second sheet of a cosmetic mask for a face according to the present invention.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

After diligent research, the inventors have discovered that it is possible to provide a cosmetic mask for a face which can fit the face well for a long period of time (e.g., 1-2 hours), in particular, even if the cosmetic mask is stiff.

Since the cosmetic mask according to the present invention can adhere to the full face for a long period of time, the cosmetic ingredients in the cosmetic mask can effectively work for the face.

In particular, even if the cosmetic mask is stiff, it is not difficult for the cosmetic mask according to the present invention to follow the three-dimensional shape of a face. Therefore, non-adhered portions of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention are difficult to be observed on the face; the presence of gaps and/or openings between the cosmetic mask according to the present invention and the face can be reduced or prevented; and even when a user of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention speaks, the cosmetic mask does not tend to easily peel off from the face.

Hereafter, a cosmetic mask for a face, which may be referred to as a facial cosmetic sheet, according to the present invention will be explained in a detailed manner.

(Shape of Cosmetic Mask)

The cosmetic mask for a face, according to the present invention, comprises:

a first sheet which has holes for eyes and can cover around the eyes; and

a second sheet which has a hole for a mouth and can cover around the mouth

wherein

the second sheet can also cover the cheeks around the wings of a nose. The cosmetic mask according to the present invention comprises at least two sheets, i.e., the first and second sheets. In other words, the cosmetic mask according to the present invention is not made of a single sheet. The cosmetic mask according to the present invention may comprise three sheets or more. However, it is preferable that the cosmetic mask according to the present invention comprises separate two sheets.

The feature of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention will be explained by using figures.

Fig. 1 shows a front view of an embodiment of a cosmetic mask for a face according to the present invention. The cosmetic mask according to the present invention shown in Fig. 1 is formed by two separate sheets, i.e., a first sheet (1) and a second sheet (2). Fig. 1 A shows a front view of the first sheet (1), and Fig. IB shows a front view of the second sheet (2).

As shown in Fig. 1 A, the first sheet (1) has two holes (3,4) for eyes. Thus, a user of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention can maintain his or her eye sight, and can observe via the holes (3,4) even during the application of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention to the face of the user.

As shown in Fig. IB, the second sheet (1) has a hole (5) for a mouth. Thus, a user of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention can speak via the hole (5) even during the application of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention to the face of the user.

According to the embodiment shown in Fig. IB, the second sheet (2) has a concave portion (6) for a nose. The concave portion (6) has an open upper end. Thus, the concave portion (6) can accept the nose of a user. Therefore, the second sheet (2) does not cover the back or the side of the nose of a user. The shape of the concave portion (6) is not limited. It is preferable that the front view of the concave portion (6) has a shape with a broader width toward the lower end of the concave portion (6) which corresponds to the shape of a nose. On the other hand, as shown in Fig. 1 A, the first sheet (1) has slits (7a,7b) to form a flap (7) for a nose. The flap (7) can cover the back and/or the side of the nose. Thus, the first sheet (1) can cover the back and/or the side of the nose of a user of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention. It is preferable that the edge of the flap (7) is almost the same level as the bottom line or preferably in the bottom line of the first sheet (1), in order to facilitate the preparation of the first sheet (1).

It is also preferable that the first sheet (1) can cover the skin or the cheeks below the lower eyelids which is useful not only to cosmetically treat the cheeks but also to effectively fix the second sheet (2) explained later (in the cosmetic process according to the present invention).

The second sheet shown in Fig. IB has two protrusions (6a,6b). The shape of the protrusions (6a,6b) is not limited. It is not necessary for the two protrusions (6a,6b) have the same shape. However, it is preferable that the protrusions (6a,6b) have the same shape for symmetrical cosmetic treatments of the face of a user.

The protrusions (6a,6b) can cover the skin (the cheeks) around the wings of a nose of a user.

Thus, the cosmetic mask according to the present invention can cover the cheeks around the wings of a nose. The skin, in particular cheeks, around the wings of a nose is difficult to be fitted by a two-dimensional sheet because of the three-dimensional shape of the wings of a nose. However, the cosmetic mask according to the present invention can fit well to the skin, in particular the cheeks, around the wings of a nose. Therefore, the cosmetic ingredients in the cosmetic mask can effectively work for the skin around the wings of a nose. Furthermore, the fit to the checks around the wings of a nose can make the cosmetic mask according to the present invention adhere well to the face for a long period of time.

It is preferable that the protrusions (6a,6b) can form the concave portion (6) in the second sheet (2). In the embodiment shown in Fig. IB, each of the two protrusions (6a,6b) has a shape of an overhang, and form the concave portion (6) which has a shape with a broader width toward the lower end of the concave portion (6) which corresponds to the shape of a nose.

It is preferable that the edges of the protrusions (6a,6b) can reach near the inner corner of the eyes. If the edges of the protrusions (6a,6b) can reach near the inner corner of the eyes, cosmetic treatments can be performed on the skin around not only the wings of the nose, but also near the root of the nose, and therefore, this will be advantageous for uniform cosmetic treatments around the nose.

It is also preferable that the protrusions (6a,6b) can cover the skin over the maxillary sinus around the nose of a user. The skin over the maxillary sinus may correspond to the cheeks surrounded by the side lines of a nose and the lower lids of eyes, in particular skin surrounded by the nasolabial folds and the lower lids of eyes. It is easy to observe or visually find pores on the skin over the maxillary sinus around a nose. Therefore, if the cosmetic mask according to the present invention can cover the skin over the maxillary sinus around a nose, effective cosmetic treatments can be performed for the visually important area of the face.

It is not necessary for the cosmetic mask according to the present invention to completely cover the entirety of the skin over the maxillary sinus. It is sufficient to cover at least a part of the skin over the maxillary sinus around the nose of a user. According to one preferred embodiment, each of the protrusions (6a,6b) has a shape which is similar to a tongue or nearly triangular, as shown in Fig. IB. The tongue or triangular shape is easy for a user of me osmetic maskraceording to the present mvention to pinch me protrasions- (6a,6b) with fingers. Therefore, the user can easily handle the second sheet (2). According to another preferred embodiment, it is possible for the protrusions (6a,6b) have another shape. In another embodiment shown in Fig. 2, the protrusions (6a,6b) have a shape which is similar to a plate or nearly a rectangular. The protrusions (6a,6b) shown in Fig. 2 can cover not only the cheeks around the wings of a nose, but also the cheeks below the lower eyelids, and therefore, cosmetic treatments for cheeks can be performed more uniformly.

In both embodiments, the protrusions (6a,6b) can protrude from the horizontal line at the bottom or lower end of the concave portion (6), the horizontal line at the upper edge of the second sheet (2) and the like. It is preferable that the first sheet (1) and/or the second sheet (2) have cutting lines or slits to make it easier for the cosmetic mask for a face according to the present invention to easily follow the three-dimensional shape of the face. The number and shape of the cutting lines are not limited. The cutting lines or slits can preferably be formed starting from the peripheral of the first sheet (1) and/or the second sheet (2), as well as the peripheral of the holes (3,4) for eyes and/or the hole (5) for a mouth.

It is preferable that the first sheet (1) has at least two cutting lines (3a,3b) (4a,4b) starting from near the inner corner of each of the holes (3,4) for eyes. The inner corners of eyes are close to a nose, and the three-dimensional shape of the inner corners of eyes is complicated. A plurality of cutting lines starting from near the inner corner of each of the holes (3,4) for eyes can help the cosmetic mask according to the present invention well fit the inner corners of eyes. If necessary, three or more cutting lines may be formed starting from near the inner corner of the holes (3,4) for eyes. However, two cutting lines (3a,3b) (4a,4b) from near the inner corner of each of the holes (3,4) for eyes are preferable. Thus, in total, four cutting lines (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) are formed from near the inner corners of the eyes in the embodiments of the present invention shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Too many cutting lines may sometimes make handling of a sheet difficult.

The two cutting lines from near the inner corner of each of the holes (3,4) may be parallel.

However, it is preferable that they are formed radially in order to follow the three-dimensional shape near the inner corner of each of the holes (3,4).

If at least two cutting lines (3a,3b) (4a,4b) are formed starting from near the inner corner of each of the holes (3,4) for eyes, it is preferable that the upper cutting line (3a or 4a) be longer than the lower cutting line (3b or 4b). In other words, it is preferable that the length of the upper cutting line (3a or 4a) be longer than that of the lower cutting line (3b or 4b). The profile of the upper area of the inner corner of eyes sinks acutely from the forehead, while the profile of the lower area of the inner corner of eyes does not change so acutely. Therefore, longer cutting lines are preferable for the upper area of the inner corner of eyes to well fit the profile thereof, and the shorter cutting lines are preferable for the lower area of the inner corner of eyes to well fit the profile thereof.

It is preferable mat the _ hole (5) for a mout^^

(5a,5b) starting from the lower part of the hole (5). According to the cutting lines (5a,5b), a user of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention can speak easily via the hole (5), because when the user speaks, the movement of the lower part of his or her mouth is larger than that of the upper part of his or her mouth, and therefore, the cutting lines (5a,5b) make it easy for the second sheet (2) to follow the movement of the mouth when the user speaks. Thus even when a user speaks, the cosmetic mask according to the present invention is difficult to be peeled off from the mouth.

The cutting lines (5a,5b) starting from the lower part of the hole (5) may be parallel. However, it is preferable that they are formed radially in order to follow the three-dimensional shape and the movement of the lower part of the mouth of a user. It is also preferable that the curvature of the upper part of the hole (5) for a mouth of the second sheet (2) is smaller than the curvature of the lower part of the hole (5) for a mouth of the second sheet (2). In general, the height of the upper mouth is larger than that of the lower mouth. In other words, the upper mouth projects out from the facial surface more than the lower mouth does. The above difference in the curvature can help the cosmetic mask according to the present invention fit the mouth area naturally.

It is preferable that each side of the first sheet (1) and/or the second sheet (2) has/have at least one tab or notch. The tab or notch may function as a means to indicate the surface to be applied onto the face of a user. For example, the embodiments shown in Figs. 1 and 2 have a notch (8) on the right side of the first sheet (1) and the second sheet (2). If a rule is set such that the presence of the notch (8) on the right side means that the surface of the first sheet (1) or the second sheet (2) which is directed the face of a user should be applied onto the face, a user can easily understand the surface to be applied onto the face, and can easily handle the first sheet (1) and the second sheet (2). The tab or notch may also be used in a different manner. For example, the first sheet (1) and/or the second sheet (2) may have a tab or tabs, preferably on the outline thereof, for facilitating the handling of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention. (Material of Cosmetic Mask)

The first sheet and/or the second sheet in the cosmetic mask for a face according to the present invention may comprise at least one substrate sheet. The first sheet and/or the second sheet in the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may comprise a single substrate sheet. On the other hand, the first sheet and/or the second sheet in the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may comprise two or more substrate sheets.

The thickness of the substrate sheet is not limited. It is preferable that the thickness of the substrate sheet be 5 mm or less, preferably 4 mm or less, and more preferably 3 mm or less, for example between 0.1 mm to 3 mm. Thus, the thickness of the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may also be 5 mm or less, preferably 4 mm or less, and more preferably 3 mm or less, for example between 0.1 mm to 3 mm.

The material of the substrate sheet is not limited.

For example, the substrate sheet may comprise at least one woven or non-woven fabric sheet. Typically, the material of the woven or non- woven fabric sheet is natural fibers such as cotton, pulp, bamboo and cellulose fibers, semi-natural fibers such as viscose rayon fibers and synthetic fibers such as polyester fibers, polyethylene terephthalate fibers, polyethylene fibers, and polypropylene fibers. Two or more selected from the above fibers may be used in combination.

It is preferable that the substrate sheet comprises at least one non-woven fabric sheet. The term "non-woven" means that individual fibers or threads forming the sheet are arranged in a disorganized manner in a web type structure, and which are not woven or knitted. The fibers of the non- woven fabric sheet are generally bonded together, either under the effect of a mechanical action (for example, interlocking, air jet, etc.), or under the effect of a thermal action, or by adding a binder.

It is preferable that the fibers which are used to form the woven or non- woven fabric sheet be hydrophilic.

It is also preferable that the fibers which are used to form the woven or non- woven fabric sheet has a smaller diameter such as 5.0 dtex or less, preferably 3.0 dtex or less, more preferably 1.5 dtex or less, and even more preferably 1.1 dtex or less. The woven or non- woven fabric sheet made from the fibers with such a smaller diameter can become softer.

The basis weight of the woven or non- woven fabric sheet may be 15g/m 2 to 300 g/m 2 , preferably 20 g/m 2 to 200 g/m 2 , and more preferably 30 g/m 2 to 100 g/m 2 . On the other hand, the substrate sheet may comprise at least one non-fabric sheet. The non-fabric sheet may be a sheet made from at least one selected from synthetic polymers such as polyethylenes, polypropylene, and polyvinylalcohols, semi-synthetic polymers such as bio-celluloses and alginates, and natural polymers such as polysaccharides (e.g., carageenan and xanthan gum), mucopolysaccharides (e.g., hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate), polypeptides (e.g., γ-polyglutamic acid) and proteins (e.g., gelatin and collagen). The non-fabric sheet may be in the form of a gel or a jelly which may be transparent, translucent or opaque. Two or more selected from the above substances may be used in combination.

The non-fabric sheet may have a thickness of 40 microns or less, preferably 20 microns or less, more preferably 10 microns or less, and even more preferably 5 microns or less.

The first sheet and/or the second sheet in the cosmetic mask for a face according to the present invention may comprise a laminated sheet or may be formed by a laminated sheet. The term "laminated sheet" means a sheet comprising at least two layers.

It is preferable that the laminated sheet comprises at least one substrate sheet and at least one film which can prevent or reduce the evaporation of water.

For example, the substrate sheet may be formed by at least one woven or non-woven fabric sheet explained as above, and the film may be formed by at least one non-fabric sheet as explained above.

If the laminated sheet comprises a plurality of substrate sheets, one of the substrate sheets may be a woven or non- woven fabric sheet made from hydrophilic fibers, and another or the other of the substrate sheets may be a woven or non-woven fabric sheet made from hydrophobic fibers.

Alternatively, if the laminated sheet comprises a single substrate sheet, the substrate sheet may be a woven or non- woven fabric sheet made from hydrophilic and hydrophobic fibers, preferably 50% by weight or more, more preferably 60% by weight or more, and even more preferably 70% by weight or more of hydrophilic fibers, and preferably less than 50% by weight, more preferably 40% by weight or less, and even more preferably 30% by weight or less of hydrophobic fibers. It is possible that the single substrate sheet be made from only hydrophilic or hydrophobic fibers. It is preferable that the single substrate sheet be made from only hydrophilic fibers. The film may be porous, but it is preferable that the film be non-porous. It is preferable that the film be made from at least one hydrophobic material such as a hydrophobic synthetic polymer as explained above. Two or more hydrophobic materials may be used in combination. For example, polyolefins such as polyethylene, polypropylene may be preferably used as the material(s) for the film.

If the laminated sheet comprises at least one substrate sheet and at least one film which can prevent or reduce the evaporation of water, the laminated sheet can prevent or reduce the evaporation of water, due to the film, from the skin. Therefore, the cosmetic mask according to the present invention which comprises the laminated sheet can provide more hydration effects and enhance skin care effects. It is preferable that the thickness of the film be thin such as 40 microns or less, preferably 20 microns or less, more preferably 10 microns or less, and even more preferably 5 microns or less. If the thickness of the film is small, the stiffness of the laminated sheet can be controlled or reduced, and therefore, the cosmetic mask according to the present invention which comprises the laminated sheet can fit the face well for a long period of time.

The laminated sheet may be prepared by an extrusion lamination process, i.e., co-extrusion of at least one substrate sheet and at least one film.

In the extrusion lamination process, for example, a thermoplastic resin such as polyethylene is melted, and extruded from an extruder as a hot film. Then, the hot film is placed onto a substrate sheet, and immediately pressed by, for example, a roller with cooling. It is preferable that the substrate sheet be formed by a woven or non- woven fabric sheet as explained above, in particular, with hydrophilic fibers such as cellulose fibers, and the film be formed by hydrophobic thermoplastic resin such as polyethylene. It may be preferable that the woven or non-woven

and more preferably 5% by weight or less, of fibers made from the hydrophobic thermoplastic resin which is used to prepare the film, because the compatibility of the substrate sheet and the film is enhanced.

In particular, an extrusion lamination process using a substrate sheet formed by a non- woven fabric which mainly includes cellulose fibers but a small amount of polyethylene fibers as well, and a film made of polyethylene, can prepare a laminated sheet in which the polyethylene film firmly fixed on the substrate sheet under relatively mild process conditions. If the film is thin or has a thickness such as 20 microns or less, preferably 10 microns or less, and more preferably 5 microns or less, the laminated sheet can be very soft and flexible.

If an extrusion lamination process uses a plurality of substrate sheets, it is possible that a substrate sheet which comprises a woven or non- woven fabric sheet made from hydrophobic fibers such as polyethylene fibers contact the film which is made of hydrophobic material(s) such as

polyethylene, because they have compatibility with each other, and can enhance the adhesiveness of the hydrophobic substrate sheet and the film. In this case, a substrate sheet which comprises a woven or non- woven fabric sheet made from hydrophilic fibers such as cellulose fibers may contact the woven or non- woven fabric sheet made from hydrophobic fibers.

The extrusion lamination process does not need to use a glue to integrate the substrate sheet and the film. Therefore, the glue does not transfer to a cosmetic composition when the substrate sheet is impregnated with the cosmetic composition. Accordingly, the safety and the effects of the cosmetic composition can be ensured.

The extrusion lamination process can be performed as described in JP-A-2005-211425, the entire contents of which are incorporated by reference herein. The cosmetic mask according to the present invention may comprise a cosmetic composition, preferably a liquid cosmetic composition, which may be called "juice", such as a cosmetic water and a milky lotion. Thus, the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may be wet.

The cosmetic composition for the cosmetic mask according to the present invention may comprise at least one active agent which may be hydrophilic or lipophilic.

The cosmetic mask according to the present invention can be used for a cosmetic process, in particular for a face. According to cosmetic process of the present invention, the cosmetic mask according to the present invention can be applied onto the face of a user wherein the first sheet is applied onto the face after the application of the second sheet onto the face.

The feature of the cosmetic process according to the present invention will be explained by using figures, under the conditions that the cosmetic mask shown in Figs. 1 and 2 will be used as the cosmetic mask according to the present invention.

In one embodiment of the cosmetic process according to the present invention, the second sheet (2) shown in Fig. 1 or Fig. 2 is firstly applied onto the face of a user.

According to the embodiments of the second sheet (2) shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the second sheet (2) has protrusions (6a,6b).

Since the second sheet (2) has protrusions (6a,6b) which can cover the cheeks around the wings of a nose, the protrusions (6a,6b) may tend to flatter. Therefore, it is preferable that the second sheet (2) is firstly applied onto the face of a user, in particular to fix as soon as possible the protrusions (6a,6b) which can cover the cheeks around the wings of a nose.

Once the protrusions (6a,6b) which can cover the cheeks are fixed, the upper part of the second sheet (2) is fixed, and therefore, the fitting of the other parts of the second sheet (2) onto the face will become easy.

Next, in one embodiment of the cosmetic process according to the present invention, the first sheet (1) shown in Fig. 1 is applied onto the face. If the first sheet (1) has a portion, such as a flap (7), which can cover the back and/or the side of the nose, the peripherals of this portion may be fixed onto the protrusions (6a,6b) which can cover the cheeks around the wings of a nose. This will be useful to completely cover the entirety of the three dimensional shape of a nose.

In addition, if the first sheet (1) has portions which can cover the cheeks below the lower eyelids, these portions may be fixed onto the protrusions (6a,6b) of the second sheet (2) which can cover the cheeks around the wings of a nose. This will be useful to completely cover the entirety of the cheeks of a user.

The cosmetic process according to the present invention can be useful for cosmetically treating the skin of a face, in particular the full face cosmetic treatment.

Conventional cosmetic masks are commonly used for about 15-20 minutes. Since the cosmetic mask according to the present invention can be well fit on the face for a longer period of time, such as 1 hour, preferably 2 hours, the cosmetic process according to the present invention can provide the skin of the face with improved cosmetic effects such as prolonged hydration effects.
