Abstract:
A counterweight (10) elevating/lowering while balancing with an elevating/lowering cage in an elevator system (100). The counterweight (10) comprises an upper counterweight (30) and a lower counterweight (32) separable from each other. The upper counterweight (30) comprises an upper brake (36) for stopping the upper counterweight (30) when the counterweight (10) is separated, and the lower counterweight (32) comprises a lower brake (38) for stopping the lower counterweight (32).
