Abstract:
The present invention relates to a coupling adapter for transcontinental railroad cars, and more specifically, to a coupling adapter for transcontinental railroad cars, wherein an adapter used for the coupling of transcontinental railroad cars having different couplers is configured with a plurality of discrete pieces to have reduced weight, thus enabling easier installation of the adapter while reducing the maintenance and repair costs of the adapter. The coupling adapter of the present invention is characterized by comprising: a first body unit which has, on one side thereof, a first head unit coupled to a coupler of a car body, and has a first connection unit on the other side thereof; a second body unit which has on one side thereof a second connection unit connected to the first connection unit, and has, on the other side thereof, a second head unit formed in the form of a coupler of a different type than the first head unit; and a coupling means for securing the first connection unit and the second connection unit.
