Abstract:
Provided is a cover opening and closing support mechanism using a gas spring such that the gas spring is reliably locked, and that the rod section of the gas spring is not damaged by a stop section. That is, the cover opening and closing support mechanism is provided with a gas spring both ends of which are each equipped with a support point, and which comprises a cylinder section and a rod section; a stop section which is provided in such a way as to be rotatable due to the support point at one end, and abuts the cylinder section when the gas spring extends fully, thereby locking the gas spring; and a gas spring stop which comprises a limiter section and abuts the cylinder section before the stop section abuts the rod section. A release grip section which releases locking is provided on a side approximately reverse to the side where the stop section of the gas spring stop is located, with the result that due to the weight of the release grip section, the gas spring stop rotates in a direction approximately reverse to the direction in which the stop section is located.
