Abstract:
A deployment apparatus (35) for a flexible cover (30) sized to cover a side-dump container (10) comprises first and second swing arm assemblies (45) pivotally mounted at a pivot point (48) to opposite sides of the container. A drive assembly (39) connected to the roll tube (37) of the flexible cover (30) is operable to rotate the roll tube (37) so that the flexible cover (30) winds around the roll tube (37). The drive assembly (39) is slidably supported on one of the swing arms (50) so that the mechanism (39) translates along the length of the swing arm (50) as it winds the flexible cover (30) around the roll tube (37). A stop (55) is provided on the swing arm (50) between the pivot point (48) and the free end (52) to limit the translation of the drive assembly (39) along swing arm (50). In another form, the drive assembly (39) is fixed to a swing arm (50) that is slidably received in a pivoting spring mechanism (68).
