Abstract:
In order to provide a covered roller that improves productivity, reduces cost, and sufficiently achieves anchoring of a covering, and to provide a means for detecting the lifespan of said covered roller, a roller is used wherein a rotating body that is covered with a covering has a region where an insertion member is inserted into the inside of the rotating body with the covering interposed therebetween. An end section of the covering in a region that protrudes from the rotating body is formed to have an inner circumference that is the same as or smaller than the inner circumference at the inner diameter of the rotating body, either by configuring the covering to be longer in a width (axial) direction than the width of the rotating body that is covered with the covering, allowing the covering to protrude from the rotating body, and using heat to subject the covering to thermal contraction in the radial direction, or by configuring the covering to be expandable/contractable in at least the radial direction and to be longer than the width of the rotating body that is to be covered with the covering, applying the covering to the rotating body, allowing the covering to protrude from the rotating body, and allowing the covering to contract. The covering in the protruding section is folded back toward the inside of the rotating body, the insertion member is inserted according to at least a press-fitting condition into the inside of the rotating body with the covering interposed therebetween to hold the covering on the surface of the rotating body, and at least the rotating body, the covering, and the insertion member are unified.
