Title:
CRO FIRE DRAGON
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2000/010645
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The device has two purposes, prevention and extinguishing of fire in open areas. Both of these use the same principle of the device construction - to destroy by flame combustible material in front of undesired fire to extinguish it. The central part that performs this function is a multipurpose disc (11) gaining flame from a gas burner (10) on one side and water dispersed from a disperser on the other side, both mounted at the lower part of the main tube (5) through which comes water from fireman's knapsack, and a thinner tube (6) with gas from a gas container (1) in a gas container carrier (2) through a gas pressure reducer (3) to a burner (10). In the point of balance a shoulder-belt (4) is fixed, to enable easier operating. The device operates properly thanks to the disc that keeps distance between the ground on one side and the flame and water on the other side to gain the best effects. The disc presses arid grass to the ground; a small fire on one side incenses and a small amount of water extinguishes the fire on the other side. That is the essence of the invention.

Description:
CRO FIRE DRAGON 1 HE OPEN AREA FIRE PREVENTION AND SUPPRESSION DEVICE BASED ON USING FLAME AND WATER THE INVENTION DESCRIPTION 1) THE INVENTION APPLICATION DOMAIN The purpose of the invention is to stop the front of uncontrolled fire in the open area or it's prevention by little force of flame and a very small amount of water.

2) THE PRESENT APPROACH TO THE PROBLEM In almost whole World approach to the problem is : the bigger fire there is - the bigger technical means are used to stop it (i. e. pumps, water tanks, Canadair aircraft's etc.). It causes the costs that has to be added to the damage caused by fire and sometimes almost doubles the loss. Recently chemicals are used for prevention but with poor results. The technique of extinguishing fire by fire was rarely used by now because the problems of control and efficiency were not solved. For the first time there is a technical device keeping an excellent control of fire and giving total security to the user.

Prevention, even if well planed, is oftenfouiid hard to perform because it takes a lot of hands to clear the land and make uniiiflaiiiable barriers to stop tlm future fire, amd W e endmgered areas are often rarely inhabited.

3) THE TECHNICAL SITUATION The fact is that fire prevention does not use any new device and it is also hard to expect such a device soon, except CRO FtIRE DLf{CON. On the contrary, new technical or chemical

devices for extinguishing fire arc constantly introduced, and it only makes the solution more expensive but do not contribute to the efficiency.

There was no efficient device for extinguishing and prevention of fire at low cost until now.

4) THE ESSENCE OF INVENTION EXPLANATION The primary goal is to enable efficient use of device even for a single person and at a low cost.

The second goal is preve1ltioll. Two mell Widl two devices moviiio parallel the same direction, distanced at will, are creating uninflamable barriers. This invention, if used properly, will be the most efficient, the easiest for use and the most inexpensive device giving a new dimension to prevention.

The essence of extinguishing fire bv fire is in avoidino the area where fire has already became furious, where temperatures are infernally high as well as risks for men and equipment. The fireman must be at safe ; distanced from dangerous fire, and to start a new fire parallel with the first one, i. e. counter-fire, that can be easily controlled and led in a desired direction while being in an early phase and under complete control.

The area burnt up by counter-fire becomes a barrier that no fire could pass, whatever strength it might be, because there is no inflammable material left to support burning.

This device is constructed just to produce counter-fire and it's safe cvIlduclioll ill desired direct 5) THE SHORT DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS The drawings of device are maid as front view (Fig. 1) and side view (Fig. 2 and 2a). They are a part of description, illustrating the invention, explaining formerly given working principle, giving a guide for producing device and making the essence easier to be understood (i.e. water and fire in the same point).

6) THE DEVICE DESCRiPTION IN DETAILS - ELEMENTS OF CONSTRUCTION as container (5 kg) propan-butan, with a valve, serves also as a counter-weight 2. gas container and gas pressure reducer carrier 3. gas pressure reducer 4. carriers of a burner, belts and the bottle carrier 5. main carrying tube, for water supply, also serving to grip a device 6. metal pipe for gas supplyv colmlecting the gas container to the burner 7. rubber tube connecting the water container at fireman's shoulder to a main tube 8. water entrance into a main tube 9. shoulder-belt connected at the point of balance 10. burner with a flame regulator 1 I. multipurpose disc 12. water disperser 13. dispersed water 14. flame from the burner Considering fig. l 2, and 2av it is obvious that device contains: burner(10) that produces flame (14) and incenses fire in an open area, that is a counter-fire to that we want to extinguish. On the opposite side of flame is a water disperser (12) that disperses water(13). Between them there is a multipurpose disc 30 cm in diæneter( I I ).

Disc keeps the distance from the ground enabling the burning process, separating water and fire not to be annulled by each oilier, but to help them both maximise efficiency. In the same time burner starts incensing arid grass, and on the other side of the disc water is wetting the grass. When a fireman advances with the disc, fiamc has already done the job buming-up arid grass and a new fire is

on it's way to stop the big fire we want to extinguish. The wet grass do not allow flame to spread in undesired direction. Disc is designed with sharp edges and back bent blades for cutting brambles and similar vegetation.

Disk. burner and disiperser are positioned on the lower side of memaincarryingtubewhichis30mmindiameterand150cmlong, and serves to lead water, to grip the device and as the carrier of the whole construction. Shoulder-belt(9) enables hands to be free for other tasks. Through the main tube passes also another metal tube, 7 mm in diameter and 140 cm long, to lead gas from the gas container I) into the burner (10). Between that tube and the standard 5 kg gas container there is a gas pressure reducer (3). The gas container and the gas pressure reducer are on it@s o~n carrier(2), to avoid the coil to be broken by the weight of the gas container, All of this serves as a counter balance to the other part of the main tube.

There is also a shoulder-belt(9) com1ected to the main tube in a point of balance and serves for easier device carrying. The rubber tube (7) leads the water from water container to the connector on the main tube (8).

Water consumption and the strength of the water dispersion is regulated by a pump located in a knapsack on fireman's shoulder. With 25 litres of water and 5 kg of gas it is possible to make a 1000 meters of ground barrier against advancing fire. In prevention, two men with two devices and a pertaining support can make 20 km barrier a day Where ground configuration allows two devices can be mounted on a tractor and be connected to bigger containers o'wrater and gas for better productivity.

7) THEPRINCIPLEOFOPERATION This device enables firemen with such possibilities in extinguishing and prevention of fire that were unseen before.

Some modificatio1ls and improvezzlents are always possible but the essence remains the point where water, fire and a disc meet.
