Abstract:
A cross conveying device is provided with a discharge roller for discharging a paper sheet (100) in a first direction, conveying rollers (3) for carrying thereon and conveying the discharged paper sheet (100) along a guide (2) in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, a moving mechanism for moving the guide (2) in the first direction, and a controlling section for controlling the moving mechanism. The conveying rollers (3) are provided so that the direction of conveyance is tilted relative to the second direction toward the guide (2). The guide (2) is provided with a contact wall (21) with which an edge of the paper sheet (100) makes contact, and also with pressing bodies (22) for pressing, near the contact wall (21), the edge of the paper sheet (100) from above. The controlling section is adapted such that, while the paper sheet (100) is being conveying by the conveying rollers (3), the controlling section operates the moving mechanism to move the guide (2) from an initial position (P1) to a reference position (P2).
